This is just a quick little post for all the brides looking for a wedding band...
If like me you are a vintage/antique jewellery, ehem, collector... (I admit it, I am), hopefully this will help!
I have been looking for a wedding band to fit with my antique engagement ring for AGES! I have literally looked everywhere high and low, in every jewellery shop I could find... but still the band eluded me - until yesterday!
The problem is that my engagement ring is a large vintage sapphire and diamond ring, and there is a gap left underneath the setting for a wedding band to fit... but, all the new bands are made thicker, so they wont fit in the gap on the antique ring. I know some brides don't mind having a small gap between their antique engagement ring and their wedding band, but mine is a really BIG gap, and very noticeable.
Am I the only bride who thinks her wedding band shouldn't cost more than £100? I understand the groom might want a more expensive one, afterall it is the only ring he will wear, but us ladies get the big engagement rings AND the eternity rings - and these are quite expensive (averaging around £2,000 and up each).
So back to the story....
I had popped to the shops with my mum to hunt for picture frame, and just happened to pass by Argos, and noticed their jewellery counter... now I have to admit I am a jewellery snob, I can't deny it. I am cheap as chips when it comes to food, drink, shoes, clothes, handbags, EVERYTHING (I will go for the cheapest I can possibly get)... apart from when it comes to jewellery - I'm like a magpie! I have more than a few pieces from Tiffany and a fair few antique pieces, and a few fantastic handcrafted one off pieces... Argos would not be somewhere I would even think of for jewellery. BUT having tried everywhere else I thought I'd give it a try.
Not only did I find a band to fit under my ring, I had a choice... of THREE, and all for under £110! The cheapest was only £25 for a 9ct 2mm white gold band and I don't mind going for a 9ct instead of the 18ct for my wedding band - they were all lovely to boot!
And all of them leave plenty of room (and budget) for my eternity band! Argos is the place to go if you are having problems finding a wedding band to fit neatly beside your antique engagement ring.

ReplyDeletediamonds for you
Jewellery can say a lot about a person and knowing what your jewellery says about you is vital in any setting especially in a professional one. It may seem shallow that an interviewer would base his or her decision on what earrings or watch a potential candidate is wearing but the truth is much of the hiring process is done subconsciously and so conveying the right impression can go a long way towards securing the job. In an interview or position of employment you are being evaluated as a whole not just by what is coming out of your mouth.

ReplyDeleteI had resigned myself to the fact that a custom made wedding band was going to cost £3,000 (quoted price) and was considering doing things the European way and moving my engagement ring from my left hand to my right, and only wearing my wedding band on my left hand - although I really didn't want to do this. where to buy cheap wedding jewelry
